About Me

Kevin D. Preston grew up in Gresham, Oregon, and is a graduate of Gresham Union High School. He attended classes at the University of Portland, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree (B.B.A.), Cum Laude.

While in College, Kevin entered the private sector working for a local finance company engaged in sourcing and serving small business financing arrangements. Kevin remains in the finance industry to date, and was a shareholder and director of American Leasing Company, and a founder, shareholder and officer of American Leasefund, Inc. Both companies have funded and serviced equipment transactions since 1993 and 1999 respectively.

While managing his finance businesses, Kevin attended Northwestern School of Law of Lewis & Clark College. He earned his Juris Doctorate degree, along with a Certificate in General Business Law. Kevin was a member of the School’s law review, and also served on its executive editorial board.

Kevin has extensive experience in the equipment finance industry, specifically related to Uniform Commercial Codes Article 2 (Sales), 2A (Finance Leases) and 9 (Secured Transactions). Kevin authored an OSB continuing legal education seminar entitled “Commercial Equipment Leasing: a survey of legal issues from the first payment to the last.”

Kevin represents clients in a variety of related matters, including entity formation, business sales, employment, real estate, commercial finance transactions and litigation.
